BIOGRAPHY

Eric Ludwig is an experienced trial lawyer with an extensive background in intellectual property and business litigation. He represents clients in complicated, high-value patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, employment law, and business dispute cases in federal courts throughout the country and in the California courts. Furthermore, Mr. Ludwig’s trial resume also includes numerous complex felony criminal matters, often involving fraud. The end result of such experiences has allowed Mr. Ludwig to try nearly two dozen cases to jury verdict, while serving clients who run the gamut from individual inventors and entrepreneurs to start-up ventures and Fortune 100 companies in matters arising in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and India.

In addition to his trial work, Mr. Ludwig also enjoys a sophisticated transactional practice, which covers trademark prosecution, copyright registration, and the negotiation and drafting of multifaceted licensing and business deals. Mr. Ludwig’s capabilities permit him to confidently represent clients in administrative proceedings involving intellectual property rights, such as TTAB, ICANN, UDRP, and WIPO proceedings, and also to guide clients in the monetization and leveraging of their intellectual property portfolios. Prior business deal engagements consist of coordinating the sale of multi-million dollar companies, crafting OEM design and manufacturing agreements for producers in China, preparing research and development contracts in the oil industry, and a variety of software, technology, and brand licensing transactions.

The breadth and depth of Mr. Ludwig’s practice stems from his diverse experiences in the legal community, be it the boutique intellectual property firm of Gazdzinski & Associates, PC, where he litigated patent and trade secret cases; the San Diego County District Attorneys’ Office, where he served as Deputy District Attorney in the Economic Crimes, Superior Court, and Special Operations Divisions and prosecuted complex felony financial crimes, counter-terrorism, and political corruption cases; or the leading firm of Procopio Cory Hargreaves & Savitch, LLP, where he worked as an associate and senior counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Team. Mr. Ludwig’s career history gives him unmatched insight and proficiencies into numerous industries and areas of law; in fact, his IP work at Procopio is what led him to be recognized by San Diego Metro Magazine naming him among its "Top 40 under 40" in 2006.
