Jennifer Butner

Jennifer Butner is a Certified Paralegal (CP®) with more than 12 years of professional paralegal and legal operations experience. Most of Jennifer’s career has been with Qualcomm’s Corporate Legal and Intellectual Property departments, with a focus on e-discovery and patent prosecution. Her work in the Corporate Legal department encompassed a broad range of matters, including trade secret misappropriation, patent, copyright, and trademark infringement, licensing disputes, antitrust, and ITC investigations.

Jennifer drew on her patent litigation expertise to quickly excel on the patent prosecution team, supporting the dockets of multiple attorneys and managing global prosecution efforts. This hands-on experience in prosecution and filings led Jennifer to transition to a legal operations role, where she managed foreign legal counsel and international patent portfolios.

• Jennifer is an adjunct instructor for the Paralegal Program at the University of San Diego, where she teaches the Intellectual Property course to aspiring paralegals.
• She holds a B.A. in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of San Francisco, an M.A. in Special Education from National University, and completed the USD Paralegal Program before earning her Certified Paralegal designation from NALA.

Outside the office, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and French Bulldog. She is an avid reader and a fan of reality television—especially The Real Housewives.
